Today, Year 5 had a fantastic opportunity to take their science lesson out of the classroom and into the real world with a visit to Pure Lakes, an award-winning natural skincare company owned by Stannite, Claire McKeever.
Claire, a former Windermere School pupil, led a fascinating workshop exploring changing materials, showing the pupils how ingredients transform through melting, mixing, and setting to create skincare products. It was an incredible hands-on experience that brought their science learning to life in a practical and engaging way.
Beyond the science, Claire also shared insights into her sustainable business practices, explaining how she and her team carefully select natural ingredients and use eco-friendly production methods—a valuable lesson in innovation and responsibility.
A huge thank you to Claire and the Pure Lakes team for an inspiring and educational experience! It was wonderful for our pupils to see how a former pupil has turned her passion into a successful, ethical business, and to witness science in action outside of the classroom.
