It’s moments like these that remind me how privileged we are to live and work in a place that has inspired generations of pupils and staff alike.
For many Stannites, these walks were more than just scenic routes – they were places to think, laugh with friends, dream big, and create lasting memories. Whether it was climbing up Orrest Head for that first unforgettable panoramic view, wandering along the peaceful paths to Post Knott, or finding your own hidden trail around Browhead, these moments became woven into school life.
We’d love to hear from you – which walks do you remember most fondly from your time at Windermere School? Do you have a story of a friendship formed on a muddy path, a moment of quiet reflection overlooking the lake, or a funny memory of getting (just a little) lost on an outdoor adventure.
Please share your memories and, if you have them, old photos of those walks by emailing me at jgaskin@windermereschool.co.uk.
Perhaps you live far away and would like me to get a photo of your favourite walk - I am happy to send photos to you!
Together, we’d like to create a special nostalgic montage of Stannite walks – celebrating the beauty of our grounds and the trails beyond, and capturing the spirit of adventure that makes our school so unique.
Let’s walk down memory lane together and rediscover the places that made our time here unforgettable.
