Sad passing of Scott Chandler

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Scott Chandler passed away on Thursday afternoon, following an illness of several weeks.

Scott was one of Windermere School’s longest-serving members of staff, dedicating an extraordinary 42 years to the school community. Over the decades, he worked tirelessly on the school grounds and, more recently, became a familiar and much-loved face as one of our bus drivers. For many pupils, Scott was the first person they saw each morning, greeting them with kindness, warmth and good humour.

Scott was a big character and was greatly liked by pupils and colleagues alike. Those who travelled on his bus will remember him fondly, as will the many staff members who had the privilege of working alongside him over the years. His contribution to school life was immense, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Scott’s family at this difficult time, particularly his wife Dawn, his son Liam, and his daughter Rebecca, who teaches singing at Windermere School.

The school community has taken time to reflect together, and pastoral support has been available for pupils and staff. A book of condolence has been opened and is available in Reception for anyone who wishes to share a message or memory in Scott’s honour. As a mark of respect, the school flag is flying at half-mast.

Scott leaves behind a lasting legacy at Windermere School, not only through his many years of service, but through the countless small moments of care, kindness and connection he shared with generations of pupils. He will be remembered with great affection by all who knew him.
