Celebrating Author, Deborah Lyon

Stannite Spotlight: Deborah Lyon – From Literature to Time Travel

Windermere School is always proud to celebrate the achievements of our Stannites and wider school community, and today, we shine a spotlight on Deborah Lyon—former Vice-Chair of the Governors, parent, and now, accomplished author.

With a deep-rooted passion for storytelling, Deborah studied Literature at university before pursuing a Creative Writing Master’s at Lancaster University in 2019. Now, she has embarked on an exciting literary journey, bringing history to life through her captivating children’s book series.

Her first book, Timewaif and the Roman Road, follows the adventures of Tim, a young boy who finds himself transported back to the time of Emperor Hadrian. As he navigates ancient challenges, daring plots, and thrilling adventures, Tim must figure out how to return to his own time while uncovering the secrets of the past.

Beyond her storytelling, Deborah is committed to making a difference. She generously donates half of her book royalties to charity, and once the full six-book series is complete all proceeds with be given to causes—showcasing her dedication to giving back.

We are delighted to welcome Deborah back to Windermere School next month for World Book Day, where she will share her journey as an author and inspire our pupils with her love of creative writing.

Congratulations to Deborah on this incredible achievement—we can’t wait to see what’s next in the Timewaif series!
