Today, pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 had the honour of representing Windermere School at the VE Day Memorial Service held in the heart of Windermere. It was a moving occasion where our pupils stood side by side with members of the wider community — a poignant reminder of the strength, unity and gratitude that this day continues to inspire.
Dressed smartly in their iconic Windermere blazers, our pupils were a visible and proud part of the gathering. As we joined local residents, veterans, and civic leaders to give thanks and remember those who served, it was heartening to see the generations united in shared respect and remembrance.
A special moment for me personally was when two members of the public came over to introduce themselves — both Stannites, and both delighted to see Windermere School pupils so involved in this important community occasion. It was a lovely reminder that the Windermere spirit continues to connect people across the years.
We are proud to stand with our community — past and present — and to offer our thanks to those who sacrificed so much.
